I was born in Indonesia, but spent most of my formative years outside the country: first in Singapore, followed by my under-graduate and postgraduate training in the UK (Cambridge) and the States (Harvard), before becoming a group leader at IMRE (Singapore).
I am now an assistant professor at KAUST, Saudi Arabia. I am also a council member of the International Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists.
My main research interests are in the physics of droplets, wetting/adhesion science, and soft matter.
I enjoy taking beautiful scientific images, some of which can be found in this website.
Life is dreary as it is, and it is my conviction that Science should be made as beautiful as humanly possible.
When I am not in the lab, I can be found running by the Red Sea coast. I can speak Indonesian, Mandarin Chinese, and French.
